Winter Yanmar Tractor Maintenance Tips

We want to teach you the proper and safe way to maintain your Yanmar tractor this winter.

If you do not feel that you understand these steps, tips, and strategies, or can perform them safely, consult your tractor dealer or local mechanic.

As Winter approaches, so will the demands and maintenance requirements of your equipment. With this in mind, we have a few tips to help keep your equipment performing at its best.

Perform Daily Inspections: Check under the hood. Inspections are critical. Unchecked wear and tear could lead to serious and expensive repairs. Examine fluid hoses for cracks. Cold temperatures put added stress on machine components. Also inspect lubricated areas, oil, coolant, fuel levels, battery functionality, as well as the undercarriage.

Warm Up the Tractor: Allow the equipment to properly warm up. The engine and components will run better when they are above 40 degrees. Adding a block heater can help decrease the warm-up time and efficiently heat the cab.

Use Indoor Storage: Store equipment inside if possible. Storing equipment inside a shed or building reduces the winter strain.

Know your Machine: Familiarize yourself with all the recommendations and requirements in your operator’s manual. Know the information backward and forward. You can always reach out to your local dealer for more specific information or answers to questions.

Keep it Clean: Clean the undercarriage regularly. You need to remove excess salt, ice, and snow. Plus, you will want to remove all grime that can cause performance and mobility issues.
