Yanmar Tractor Routine Service Recommendations

There are many questions about when to perform routine tractor maintenance.

We also get a slew of questions asking what needs to be done.


It is time to answer these questions.


First and foremost --- always remember that you may need to adjust your maintenance schedule based on use.


Here are some basic guidelines.


After 50 hours:

  • Replace engine oil and engine oil filter.

  • Check and adjust the cooling fan V-belt.


Every 50 hours (after the initial 50-hour maintenance):

  • Check battery.

  • Drain fuel filter/water separator.


Every 250 hours:

  • Check and adjust cooling fan V-belt.

  • Check and adjust the governor lever and engine speed control.

  • Clean air cleaner element.

  • Drain fuel tank.

  • Replace engine oil and engine oil filter.

  • Check and clean radiator fins.


Every 500 hours:

  • Replace fuel filter.

  • Clean fuel filter/water separator.

  • Replace air cleaner element.


Every 1,000 hours:

  • Drain, flush and refill cooling system with new coolant.

  • Adjust intake/exhaust valve clearance.


Every 1,500 hours:

  • Inspect, clean, and test the fuel injectors, if necessary.

  • Inspect the crankcase breather system.


Every 2,000 hours:

  • Check and replace fuel hoses and engine coolant hoses.

  • Lap the intake and exhaust valves.
